Celebrate the Joy of Reading!
When community leaders, parents, firefighters and former young readers participate in classroom "celebrity" read-ins, students learn by example and see firsthand the importance of reading. That's the concept behind National Young Readers Week, held the second week in November . It's an idea conceived soon after the BOOK IT! Program began and was the result of our partnership with the Library of Congress' Center for the Book. The success of National Young Readers Week proves just how beneficial it has been for both listeners and readers.
Mark your calendars!
More tools, information, printables, and contests will be added to our web site soon!
Over the years, teachers have sent us their great ideas for celebrating NYRW. Take a look! |
